CLOTHING BRAND ONE.OF.XX WILL BE DROPPING THEIR FIRST COLLECTION EXCLUSIVELY AT WOEI.
SAVE THE DATE : 22/11/24
Bas Timmer, upcycle specialist and founder of the ShelterSuit Foundation, launches an extremely limited and numbered streetwear collection. The first drop of one.of.xx counts 20 items, made from deadstock materials of French luxury fashion brands.
“In the past 10 years, ShelterSuit received a lot of support from the fashion industry. Thanks in part to the donated materials, we were able to distribute over 30,000 products to people in need. The collaboration with Chloé during Paris Fashion Week was a highlight and a turning point for me. As a designer, I have been amazed by the factories of the largest luxury brands. The quality of leftover materials and deadstock simply screamed for a purpose.
Ideas turned into a vision, and that vision is ONE.OF.XX. I have designed 8 silhouettes and the first drop counts 20 items - all materials have been selected by myself. Each item is limited and numbered, based on the amount of available fabric. Gone is really gone.” - founder Bas Timmer.
The first drop of ONE.OF.XX. will exclusively be available online and in-store at WOEI on Friday, November 22nd.
We sat down with Bas to answer some questions regarding the brand and upcoming drop;
The name, ONE.OF.XX., where does it come from?
ONE.OF.XX derives from the idea that every piece is unique and part of a limited collection. We work exclusively with the deadstock materials of French luxury fashion brands. I personally handpick these fabrics in their factories and warehouse in Portugal. Based on the amount of squared metres of fabric we source, we determine the quantities of the drop and create a limited, fully upcycled collection.
The XX varies per item, per drop, per collection - ensuring that each piece tells its own story and creates its own impact. Every garment is numbered, adding a personal touch to each piece. I like to think of the brand name as ONE.OF.US.
Why did you pick WOEI as the place to sell your first collection?
Woei and I are connected through our passion for streetwear and Rotterdam culture. He understands the city, the youth and the value of authenticity, which fits perfectly with my vision for ONE.OF.XX. We don't just want to make or sell clothes, we want to tell a story and create lasting impact.
What is your connection to Rotterdam?
I’ve always felt a strong connection to Rotterdam due to its strong street culture. When I think about my past, my story, I feel welcome in Rotterdam. The city breathes authenticity, and when I approach the city on the highway and see the skyline nearing, I feel at home. So it only feels right to launch ONE.OF.XX in Rotterdam and bring my vision to life.
Who is ONE.OF.XX for?
ONE.OF.XX is for those wanting to express their identity, for those understanding that fashion and social impact go hand in hand. It’s for the next generation who value exclusively and sustainability, who want to stand out while being part of something bigger.
Included in the first ONE.OF.XX drop, is the WOEI x ONE.OF.XX x Daan Koens T-shirt.
His expressionist style speaks volumes, so Bas invited Daan to create a painting that resembles the different layers of society.
The WOEI x ONE.OF.XX x Daan Koens Collaboration T-shirt is limited to 100 pieces, each individually numbered, and will exclusively be available online and in-store at WOEI on Friday, November 22nd. The shirt will be part of the full collection that will be dropping that same day.
“For this painting, I reflected on the decadence of rich people versus hidden poverty,” Daan explains. “I wanted to shine a light on social inequality. So I chose to subtly contrast the luxury of the wealthy elite on the top with the invisible poverty of the less fortunate below. It often happens that people react surprised when they learn I make my living as an artist, and that I got myself out of a houseless situation through my art. To anyone out there: get up and do it, do it today. Pursue your dreams, create that painting.”
